Originally, Nakamura Tsukiita Inc. was established in 1964 by my father, Yoshinori Nakamura, as a manufacturer of veneered plywood for furniture and interior materials. Later, in 1995, I, Takahiro Nakamura, independently took over the business and relaunched Nakamura Tsukiita. In 1997, the company was reorganized as Nakamura Tsukiita Inc. Since then, we have primarily focused on producing wooden interior materials, including veneered plywood.
However, a chance encounter with a Korean individual in 2016 opened the door for us to venture into the export business of reused goods. Entering a completely unfamiliar industry brought a series of challenges, including issues with procurement, product packaging, and cargo loading, as we initially lacked the necessary expertise. Nevertheless, through platforms such as a certain B2B business matching site, we gradually built a stable customer base. Fortunately, we also learned valuable lessons from overseas buyers throughout this process.
Over time, this business "Ecoritai" has grown into a core operation, even surpassing our original business in scale. In an era that increasingly demands the development of eco-friendly, circular economies, we are committed to giving back to everyone we have encountered, including our employees, through this endeavor. Moving forward, we aim to continue growing together while contributing to society.
President, Takahiro Nakamura
The company is located in Okawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, a prominent furniture production area in northern Kyushu. Being near pottery production centers such as Arita, Imari, Koishiwara, Onta, and Hasami, we are able to source these products relatively consistently.
We have staff proficient in English and other foreign languages, ensuring smooth communication, customer service satisfaction and peace of mind.
We load only usable items. In other words, unusable items are not included, so you can rest assured about the quality.
Since starting the business in 2016, we have successfully exported a total of 155 containers, primarily to Southeast Asia, including Thailand, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
(As of November 2024)
Some of the dishes we collect are in a dirty condition. However, at our company, we always clean them before packing and exporting.
More than half of our products are sourced from auctions rather than items collected from estate cleanouts or decluttering sites. Many of these include antiques, giving us confidence in the quality of our containers.
In Japan, with changes in housing styles, many still-usable household items are being discarded in large quantities during events such as moving, decluttering, or end-of-life organization. These include once-cherished wedding furniture, unopened gift items, wooden ornaments, toys and stuffed animals no longer needed as children grow up, and surplus dishware left behind in family homes due to the rise of nuclear families. While these items are considered "unwanted" in Japan, they can become "essential goods" in different countries or in the hands of new users.
We operate "Ecoritai (エコりたい) " under the slogan "Eco-friendly for Japan and the Earth," by exporting these so-called "unwanted" goods from Japan as "essential goods" overseas. A significant portion of our products is sourced from auctions, and we acquire a wide variety of items, including antiques such as hanging scrolls and vases. By doing so, we ensure high-quality containers for export, contributing to a more sustainable, circular economy.
